Limitations of the Free Edition

The Free Edition is limited to 15 database tables, views, and custom queries and 30 web pages.

Tables: Please note that in some cases you may select 15 tables, but Iron Speed Designer will include additional tables that are referenced through foreign keys, and the total number of tables may be more than you selected. For example, if you select the Order Details table only, Iron Speed Designer must also include the Orders and Products tables because Order Details has foreign keys to these tables. Moreover, the Orders table further links the Customers table because of a foreign key relationship. So in this example, you selected one table (Order Details), and Iron Speed Designer linked another three tables (Orders, Customers, and Products) for a total of four tables. Please keep in mind that foreign key linked tables count towards the 15 table limitation. Learn more...

Pages: All ASCX controls and ASPX pages that you create are counted. Iron Speed Designer excludes certain standard pages it creates from this count, such as LargeListSelector.aspx, ExportFieldValue.aspx, all of the Troubleshooting Wizard aspx pages, default.aspx, themebutton.ascx, header.aspx, footer.aspx, menu.aspx, menu_item.aspx and other similar standard pages and controls. So 30 web pages really means you will get 30 ASPX pages that you created. Learn more...

Opening Applications: You can open any Iron Speed Designer-generated application in all product editions. For example, you can open a 100-page application in the Free Edition and make changes using the visual editor. The Free Edition limitations are imposed at Build time. So you can modify and change the application but cannot build because of the limitations mentioned above.

Similarly, you can open an Enterprise Edition application in Professional Edition and vice-versa. At build time, your application switches to the specific product edition you are using.

Compatibility Between Product Editions

Your team can develop applications using a combination of Iron Speed Designer Enterprise Edition, Professional Edition and Free Edition.

Applications created with each product edition are fully compatible with each other, and no migration is required to go from one product edition to the other. For example, applications created with Enterprise Edition can be modified with Professional Edition and Free Edition. However, if your application contains Enterprise Edition features, those features cannot be modified or changed with Professional Edition or Free Edition.

Extended Design Themes:  Enterprise Edition has over unique 27 design themes; Professional Edition has 11 and Free Edition has five. All design themes include Arabic and Hebrew right-to-left language support. Pages created with the design themes in Enterprise Edition will continue to work in Professional Edition and Free Edition. Multi-database Applications: An application can be linked to multiple databases in Enterprise Edition and moved to Professional Edition or Free Edition. However, new databases cannot be added, and changes to the database settings for the second and subsequent databases cannot be made in Professional Edition and Free Edition. Learn more...
