Problem

You get this error when running your application:

The application for project XXX is not installed. Make sure the application for the project type () is installed.

This error is caused because the Visual Studio 2005 Web Application Projects add-in is not installed.  This add-in is part of Visual Studio 2008, however it must be installed separately in Visual Studio 2005.

Solution

This feature is available by installing any of the following:

• Visual Studio 2005 Service Pack 1

• Visual Studio 2005 Team Suite Service Pack 1

• Visual Studio 2005 Visual Web Developer
