ORA-12546: TNS:permission denied

Problem

You get this error when accessing a database in Iron Speed Designer, typically in the Application Wizard:

Error Connecting To Database

Unable to connect to XXX server. Error: ORA-12546: TNS: permission denied

This error can occur when using ODBC to connect to your Oracle database. Iron Speed Designer does not support ODBC. Alternatively, one or Oracle components may be missing from your system.

Solution

Iron Speed Designer uses Microsoft’s “OLE DB provider for Oracle” to read the database schema from an Oracle database. Please ensure this driver is properly installed on your system.
