Problem

You get this error message when running Iron Speed Designer:

Your temporary folder contains ### files.  A large number of temporary files can cause unexpected errors with potentially misleading descriptions.  We recommend you clean out your temporary folder, <TEMPORARY FOLDER>, as soon as possible.

For a computer to perform well on a consistent basis, it needs to be well maintained. If there are many junk files on your local hard drive, this can slow down your programs like Iron Speed Designer running on your computer. In rare cases, left over Junk Files may cause your software to behave in an unpredictable way. There are several ways that the Windows Operating Systems accumulate unneeded files. The operating systems and other programs create temporary files in the temporary folder, which can be found by using %temp% in the address bar of Windows Explorer.

If you have thousands of Junk Files in the Windows Temp Folder this can take up substantial chunk of space in your hard drive, you should removing these files if they are unneeded by cleaning the Temp Folder.

Solution

You can clean your Temporary Folder manually in Windows Explorer.

Step 1:  Exit Iron Speed Designer and close all other running programs.

Step 2:  In Windows Explorer, locate your temporary folder.  Make sure the 'Details' view is selected (View menu, Details).

Step 3:  Click the 'Modified' column to sort the folder so the most recent files are listed at the top.

Step 4:  Delete all files older than the last time you restarted Windows.  For example if you restarted today, select and delete all files with a date/time of yesterday or before.

Step 5:  Empty your Recycle Bin.

Step 6:  Restart Iron Speed Designer.
