Error 1935: An error occurred ...

Problem

You get the following error when installing Iron Speed Designer:

Error 1935

An error occurred during the installation of assembly component [2]. HRESULT: [3]. {{assembly interface: [4], function: [5], assembly name: [6]}}

This error can be caused by a variety of reasons related to permissions or file access.

Solution

Please check the following:

1. Ensure that you have permission to modify the Windows registry.

2. Ensure that you have Administrative privileges to the system.

3. Ensure that you have permission to save files in the temporary folder.

Also see: http://blogs.msdn.com/astebner/archive/2004/11/10/255346.aspx.  There are several reasons listed here; the most relevant of these are the ones related to .NET Framework.  While this error occurs when installing Iron Speed Designer and not the .NET Framework, the reasons are still relevant since both products install assemblies in the Global Assembly Cache (GAC).

If this continues to be a problem, we recommend re-installing the .NET Framework from the following locations.  If you are installing .NET Framework 1.1, make sure to install the SP1 patch release.
